awkward and awesome thursday!

Awkward:
- When people at work date. And you have to watch their displays of affection in the break room and listen into their ridiculous conversations. And secretly wished they didn't work there anymore, just so you didn't have to listen to them.
- Can I also just put people in the break room in general? Because although I can appreciate trying to be social I usually just want to sleep. Me looking at my phone with my head on the table not a hint? Me responding to your conversation with yeah, mhm, I see {a.k.a. another cue that I am barely listening} not strong enough? I'm sorry, I know I'm anti social.
- When you're in the middle of doing your hair or doing your makeup or getting dressed and someone rings the doorbell. And you debate if you should just pretend your not home or answer looking like a mess. I  tend to go with option b, which usually just makes things more awkward because I look like a disaster and I can tell people notice. Yeah the shocked eyes on peoples faces that someone can actually look like that give it away. I try to embrace it.

Awesome:
- 3 am thunderstorms. So thankful you have decided to return. Actually just rain in general. You have been missed.
- When our kitchen is able to stay clean for more than fifteen minutes. This does not happen often people, like at all.
- Going shopping since what seems like forever. And finding amazing deals. Like a seven dollar midi skirt from Old Navy. Rarely am I able to find items on sale. In the colour I want. In the size I need.
- Watching Cinderella Story. And enjoying it. Am I ten years old? Maybe. But that's okay.
- Orange pekoe tea with milk and sugar.
- Dark chocolate almond milk. And brocoli cheddar bake. And onion and cheese omelet. And all of these things happening in one day. Food has kind of been a big deal this week.
- The smell of laundry detergent

read and write wednesday!

So I know, I know. This weekly post has turned into a celebrity fashion mention, and not really about reading at all. And I feel a little bit guilty. But then I realize I get to find celebrity style that I love for a purpose. And then it seems okay. This week is Whitney Port. Ever since I started watching The Hills she has been my one of my favourite celebrities go to for style inspiration. Her barely there makeup and effortless style won me over in a heart beat. And I've loved seeing her style transform over the years. Now, sometimes her style can be a bit too casual for my liking, but I mean the hair makes up for everything? Yes? Yes. Here are some of my faves:

missing my turtle friend

My turtle {I know it's a tortoise, but I like to call him a turtle, just go with 'kay? 'kay} friend and I met this May while I was on vacation in the beautiful state of South Carolina. He was the sweetest turtle I have ever met in my life. He was perfectly okay with us petting him over and over again. For reals. And he would try and walk through the fence to be closer to us. I think we're soul mates  Have I ever told you turtle are my favourite animal of all time? They are. Too cute. Miss him.

wishing i was here

Having a part time job is nice. But it also means that I don't get to go up to my cottage as much as I like. And on hot humid days like today, there is nothing I want more than to be swimming in the lake and sipping on cream soda.

thoughts on life as of lately

Taking outfit pictures is much harder by yourself.
Insomnia is the worst. Staying up all night has lost its charm.
Photoshop is my new best friend.
In the mood for a road trip.
Work. Work. Work.
Really wanting to dye my hair blonde.
Laundry should learn how to fold and put itself away.
Falling asleep should not be so difficult.
Bike rides at 6:30 am are surprisingly more enjoyable than I thought.
Having the chain fall off your bike is not as enjoyable. Especially when you've never fixed one before.
Why do air conditioners always break down when the weather decides to get super hot?

where do i even begin?

So my friends and I. Whenever we get together we're usually pretty crazy. But tonight things went to a whole other level. None of it was planned. It just happened. Seriously. We:

- Witnessed a crazy person tearing apart his car in the middle of a grocery store parking lot
- Completed the cinnamon challenge
- Blasted gangsta music till the speakers wouldn't go any louder
- Went through a McDonald's drive thru and then halfway through the order just drove away
- Littered. More than I'd like to admit
- Rolled down a hill at a Catholic school parking lot at two am
- Got busted by the cops. But we weren't doing anything wrong, promise. {unless rolling down a hill at two am on private property is not allowed..} But we didn't get in trouble, promise. It went like this:

Friend and I were rolling down a hill hand in hand, because these are the dares my friends come up with. After we reached the bottom of the hill we see a car pull into the parking lot. I immediately run to our car, assuming it's the crazies rolling in {and I don't want to be around for that}. I can't get the car door open so I turn away from the car that I think is being driven by crazy teenagers, much like myself. They start chatting up my friends and I don't understand why they're just standing there talking back. This would be the time to get in the car and drive away, yes? It is at this point that I realize that these twenty year olds are not crazy teenagers like us. They are cops driving an undercover car. We were asked questions like "what are you guys doing here?" "um, rolling down a hill and eating cinnamon". The cops gave us a look. A look that says these are the lamest teenagers. Ever {we're okay with it}. "have you been drinking?" "no, just cinnamon water". They are holding in laughter at this point. "do you all go to the local university?" "no, just our one friend". Yes we are representing our city real well at this point. And then they just drove away. Didn't even tell us to leave. Still can't believe that happened.

That was too much craziness for one night.

read and write wednesday

So as promised I have decided to write about another celebrity whose style I really love. And this week I've decided to feature Jessica Biel. She always looks so comfortable when she's out and about and her staples include skinny jeans, flats, oversized sweaters and sunnies {I mean come on, who doesn't love that? Basically my ideal wardrobe}. I love how her makeup is always understated and natural. Again, like Kourtney Kardashian I love it when celebrities where outfits that are wearable for those of us not in Hollywood.
